The economic growth of South Labuhanbatu Regency in 2017 was measured based on the increase in the figure of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on the basis of constant 2010 prices, which amounted to 5.09 percent. The highest growth in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency was achieved by the Transportation and Warehousing business field, which amounted to 8.67 percent, followed by the Information and Communication business field of 8.57 percent, the field of business of Providing Accommodation and Drinking Food by 7.89 percent, the Construction business field amounting to 7.75 percent, the field of Health Services and Social Activities businesses amounted to 7.64 percent, the field of business of Real Estate Services and Other Services amounted to 7.56 percent, the field of business of Water Supply, Waste Management and Waste by 6.67 percent, business fields Wholesale and Retail Trade; Car and Motorcycle Repair in the amount of 6.10 percent, the Company's Manufacturing and Services Industry business fields amounted to 5.12 percent, Mining and Excavation business fields amounted to 5.11 percent. While other business fields grew below 5 percent.
In 2017 the GRDP of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency based on current prices reached Rp. 23.19 trillion and in 2016 reached Rp. 21.00 trillion. Whereas the GRDP of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency based on the constant price of 2010 in 2017 amounted to Rp. 16.90 trillion, grew by 5.09 percent from 2016 which reached Rp. 16.08 trillion.
In 2017, the processing industry business field dominated the GRDP structure of South Labuhanbatu Regency, which amounted to 43.44 percent, followed by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries business field, which amounted to 27.26 percent, the wholesale and retail trade business fields; Car and Motorcycle Repair amounted to 13.17 percent, and Construction business fields amounted to 7.04 percent. While other business fields contribute below 3 percent.
In 2017 the figure of per capita GRDP in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency reached Rp. 70.97 million with an increase of 8.26 percent compared to the 2016 GDP per capita which reached Rp. 65.55 million.
